Alightintheattic cube.
I've had lot's of fun with the actual cube you see a model of below. It's provided countless opportunities to demonstrate an amazing paradox of how simple puzzles can completely stump us. It's a perfect analogy of life and the accompanying challenges of character and maturity.
The cube is made of two identically formed pieces. The dado or dovetail joints are ancient joints that can only go together in one direction. (like sliding joints used in cabinet and furniture drawers and slides)
The two pieces easily join one another with only enough room for glue.
Can you see how the two pieces are slid into place? (mouse-over to rotate the cube)
Don't give up.
After you see the answer, you won't believe it looked so impossible. (just like life!)
Have fun - let your mind explore the alternatives. Ignore that inner voice that lies "I'm no good at puzzles.
You can get Alightintheattic!
